The Slow Food movement is an idea, a way of living and a way of eating. It is a grassroots movement created in 1989 in Italy by Carlo Petrini to counter the rise of fast food and fast life. To date, it counts over 100.000 members in more than 150 countries worldwide. They promote the links between the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. In the fast modern junk food environment, Slow Food is the voice of calm, reason and quality. They encourage consumers to maximise the enjoyment taken in eating and sharing food, and promotes the consumption of sustainable sourcing and locally produced food.

Our own slow food products
Its not just our suppliers that qualify for Slow Food approval our own traditional products also qualify. We produce our own Gammon here in the shop using the best cuts from Blythburgh Pork and a (slow) 28 day Dry Cure process. Biltong and Boerewors are also made on the premises to traditional South African technique and recipes – marinading and air drying for five days to get a perfect result.
